Cyclods Evolution Tutorial

The CycloDS Evolution is a flash card designed for use with the
Nintendo DS hand-held video game system. The flash card adds
significant functionality to the system, introducing the ability to
read e-books, play audio and video files, and run a variety of
homebrew software. Due to the limited nature of the instructions that
are included with the package, setup may seem confusing, but getting
the CycloDS Evolution up and running at its fullest capabilities is a
relatively simple process.

Setup
1. Download the latest firmware from cyclopsds.com. To ensure
compatibility with newer files, you should update often. Place the
microSD card into the adapter and plug it into one of your computer's
USB slots. Often, the microSD card will immediately open once it is
recognized by the computer, but if it isn't, it can be accessed on
your system's desktop on a Mac and in the "My Computer" folder on a
PC. Extract the firmware files onto the root directory of the microSD
card. Remove the microSD card from the adapter and place it into the
flash card. Insert the flash card into the Nintendo DS and start the
system. You will now be asked if you would like to update. Choose
"Yes," and after the files are patched your card's firmware will be up-
to-date.
Features
2. The CycloDS offers many features that have come to be expected
in a Nintendo DS flash card. Aside from supporting the Moonshell media
player and homebrew applications, the CycloDS is notable for fully
supporting the "download play" option included in commercial DS games,
which allows two or more people to play together using just one game
card. The flash card allows the brightness of the screen to be adjust
on-the-fly when using a Nintendo DS Lite, as well as offering the
ability to save a game at any time and store extensive catalogs of
cheat codes for Nintendo DS games. You will also have the option of
slowing down the game speed to make difficult situations somewhat
easier.
Homebrew
3. Homebrew is software created for the Nintendo DS platform by
independent developers and is generally offered at no cost online.
Popular homebrew applications include basic operating systems, such as
DSOrganize, photo and sound editing software, games, web browsers and
ICQ clients. Visit gbatemp.com, thoughtsfrommylife.com and joystiq.com
to find lists compiling the most popular Nintendo DS homebrews.
